SUMMARY:Farley Center Concert - Skip Jones
DESCRIPTION:Farley Center Concert with Skip Jones\nSUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSICIANS!\nAll proceeds will go to the musicians \nCome join us for an in person concert with Skip Jones\, – Wisconsin Folksinger\, Storyteller and Educator \nCost: $20 (PAY AT THE DOOR)\nSUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSICIANS! \nAll proceeds will go to the musicians \nCome join us for an in person concert with Wisconsin Folksinger\, Storyteller and Educator Skip Jones at the Farley Center under the Bur Oak Welcoming Area (BOWA ). \nAbout Skip Jones:\nFor over 40 years I have been sharing songs and stories with audiences of all types and sizes. \nSome songs come from the giants of Americana music – giants such as Woody Guthrie. Others are from some of the great folk singers I have had the privilege of working with over the years\, such as my old friend and mentor U. Utah Phillips\, Guy Carawan\, Bill Stanes and Larry Long. On occasion\, I may also sneak in a few songs I have written myself. \nThe stories come from my travels around the world as a navy veteran and performer\, and from my own back yard surrounded by members of the Mohican Nation in Northeast Wisconsin. \nThey also come from the lives and observations of thousands of “regular” yet very special people I have entertained\, from ages 3 to 108. \nI am a musical activist for many issues from clean water to respecting each other\, and my convictions work their way into my music and stories. \nBeyond my own performances I have organized and directed festivals and concert series\, introduced House Concerts to the Midwest and beyond\, provided high-quality sound engineering for folk festivals and cultural events\, and have produced and recorded albums for local\, regional and national artists. \nSee: www.skipjones.net \nWe encourage attendees to come early or stay late and take a walk through the Natural Path Sanctuary and Farley Center farms. Please bring your own blanket\, chair\, food and drinks to the concert. Please bring your masks as well. \nWe are offering an informational tour with Farley Center Board Vice Chair Jeanne Meier at 11:00 – one hour before the concert. \n**Farley Center honey ($10) will be available. Please bring cash.** \nFor any questions\, please contact us a 608-845-8724 or e-mail us at programs@farleycenter.org \nHOSTED BY:: \nFarley Center\nwww.farleycenter.org \nSouthwest Wisconsin Area Progressives (SWWAP)\nhttp://www.swwap.org/ \nNatural Path Sanctuary\nwww.naturalpathsanctuary.org

SUMMARY:Farley Center Tree Carving Tour with Artist David Carlson
DESCRIPTION:Tree Carving Tour and information for wood carvers and other interested folks with Artist David Carlson. This will be a visit to the tree and a walkabout on the grounds for ideas. \nSee: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1468380859914667 \nFor more information\, please e-mail David Carlson at djcarlson30@gmail.com \nPlease send an e-mail to programs@farleycenter.org if you plan on attending. \nGreetings Artists\, \nI have begun to receive seed catalogues\, so we know spring is on its way. My thoughts return to the Farley Center Tree Carving project. This is one of many things that Covid-19 has put on hold. The good news is that we can begin to work towards resuming. \nI would like to invite you to consider what you might want to contribute to the project. Remember that the theme is “Rooted in the Land.” This will also be the theme of the 2021 land art exhibition this year. \nSimply contact me with what you would like to do. The tree is divided by vine carvings into “panels” of various sizes. You can select one of those to carve\, paint\, or attach objects that are environmentally friendly and that fit the theme. The challenge is to create with materials that are weather resistant. \nI will\, when things warm up this spring\, be refreshing things and then I will be working on a carving on one of the panels modeled after the oak tree we so often gather around at the center. There are lots of other ideas related to the land\, such as farming\, bees and bee keeping\, wildlife\, birds\, native flowers and much more. \nI hope to hear from you soon.\nDavid Carlson
