DESCRIPTION:6/9/23 \nCome along for a stroll on the beautiful wooded walking trails located at The Farley Center!  \nPlease check the weather to dress accordingly and bring water as needed. Closed-toe shoes are suggested as we will be walking along dirt trails.\nWe will walk for approximately an hour\, but if others feel up to it\, we can extend our walk as necessary. \nWe will meet about 10 minutes before our walk at the picnic tables located near the BOWA (Bur Oak Welcoming Area) located to the right of the driveway as you pull in.\nPlease note\, this is not a formal tour\, but a casual walk throughout The Farley Center grounds. \nLooking forward to seeing everyone out there! \nHosted by: Katrina Krueger\, Linda & Gene Farley Center for Peace\, Justice and Sustainability and Farley Center Walking Club

Dustin Duve will host the day with a tour and workshops. Light refreshments will be served. \nThis event will take place OUTDOORS and a good portion will take place walking in the Sanctuary. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your water bottles. \n\nThis event will take place RAIN OR SHINE. \nBurials happen year around in snow\, rain or sun. \n1:00-1:10 – Intro by Director Shedd Farley\n1:10-2:00 – NPS Tour\n2:00-3:00 – Shroud Board Workshop*/Mock Burial Workshop**\n3:00-4:00 – Mock Burial Workshop/Shroud Board Workshop\n4:00-5:00 – Meet with NPS Staff \n*Shroud Board Workshop\nWhy are bodies called “stiffs”? I don’t know either\, because they aren’t! That’s where shroud boards come in! Learn the ins and outs of the simple design\, construction and use of this essential shroud burial device. \n** Mock Burial Workshop \n“Participants have the opportunity to learn what the green burial process entails by participating in a simulated version of it. This workshop includes Q&A with a Natural Path Sanctuary Cemetarian\, pallbearing and even lowering “dead” weight into a grave.” \nThis event is free but please RSVP to programs@farleycenter.org
