All homemade and herbs\, tomatoes for the sauce and vegetable toppings are grown at the Farley Center! \nINFORMATIONAL TOUR: 12:00PM: Tour Center with Board Member Jeanne Meier before the concert. Contact us at 608-845-8724 or email us at programs@farleycenter.org \nJoin us in person for a heart lifting\, energetic afternoon of al fresco music by the Madison Japanese Taiko Drumming Group – “BENI DAIKO!” This heart throbbing performance will be given in the open air under the Burr Oak Welcoming Area (BOWA) at the Farley Center. \nTaiko has been a part of Japanese culture for centuries\, and carries great cultural significance and is part of important celebrations. The name of the group Beni Daiko carries a specific meaning: “Beni” means “Deep color of Red” which represents Madison and “taiko” means “drum” in the Japanese language. \nThe term “Taiko” has also come to refer to the art of Japanese drumming\, also known as “kumi-daiko.”\nYou are welcome to come early\, stay late\, walk through the Natural Path Sanctuary and the Farley Center farms to enjoy all that the Wisconsin spring countryside has to offer! \nWe will have Farley Center honey available for $10. DESCRIPTION:5-20-23 \nCome tour the food forest at the Farley Center with Kalev Kristjuhan following the Beni Daiko Japanese Drumming Concert (1:00-2:15)There is no cost for the tour.\nThe food forest includes newly planted areas through the Wisconsin Food Forests initiative (https://www.wisconsinfoodforests.com/) as well as more mature areas featuring a range of planting styles: guilds and contours and a mix of plants from the well known: apples\, pears\, and grapes\, to the lesser known: paw paw\, cornelian cherry\, honeyberry\, quince\, serviceberry\, currants\, and many more under and overstory plants. \nThe Farley Center is a certified organic farm where many growers rent land and share common resources like tractors\, irrigation lines\, and coolers.

DESCRIPTION:5/26/23 \nCome along for a stroll on the beautiful wooded walking trails located at The Farley Center!  \nPlease check the weather to dress accordingly and bring water as needed. Closed-toe shoes are suggested as we will be walking along dirt trails.\nWe will walk for approximately an hour\, but if others feel up to it\, we can extend our walk as necessary. \nWe will meet about 10 minutes before our walk at the picnic tables located near the BOWA (Bur Oak Welcoming Area) located to the right of the driveway as you pull in.\nPlease note\, this is not a formal tour\, but a casual walk throughout The Farley Center grounds. \nLooking forward to seeing everyone out there! \nHosted by: Katrina Krueger\, Linda & Gene Farley Center for Peace\, Justice and Sustainability and Farley Center Walking Club
