Farley Center-Racism in Healthcare by Dr. Tillman Farley-Online

Black Lives Matter: A discussion of racism in healthcare
ONLINE Presentation – (one hour presentation followed by 1/2 hour for discussion)
Racism has permeated all aspects of our society since 1619 when the first enslaved person was brought to these shores. Although the formal institution of slavery ended in the United States in 1865, the underlying force that allowed it to exist – the belief that one group of people is inferior to another – has persisted and has yet to be addressed in the United States. Sadly, the medical profession has not been immune to the effects of structural, institutional, and personal racism. Dr. Tillman Farley, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Salud Family Health Centers and Associate Professor of Family Medicine in the University of Colorado School of Medicine, will lead a presentation and discussion of racism in healthcare.
