Natural Path Sanctuary/Gunderson – Fitchburg Senior Center/Green Burial Presentation

Green Burials – December 7, 2022
Learn from Shedd Farley of Natural Path Sanctuary, Nickie Gard and Melissa Theisen of Gunderson Funeral & Cremation Care about burial options that emphasize simplicity and environmental sustainability. Shedd will share about his passion for green burials and Natural Path Sanctuary, a nature preserve burial ground also known as a green cemetery. Natural Path Sanctuary is located in Verona and is the first cemetery in Dane County, WI, that exclusively follows natural/green burial practices—no embalming, no vaults and only biodegradable containers and shrouds are allowed. It offers a natural and traditional alternative to modern-day burials.

Natural Path Sanctuary- Creative Dying Game

9/1/22

You are invited to come to the Farley Center / Natural Path Sanctuary for an evening of connection and meaningful conversation with the Creative Dying Card Game on Thursday, September 1 st. from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This event will be hosted by Megan & Ryan Miller at the picnic tables in the Bur Oak Welcoming Area (BOWA).

The Creative Dying Card Game is a conversation card game with the intention of offering a low-stakes, accessible way to have meaningful conversations about life and death. The game includes 176 question prompts to help inspire self-reflection and conversation.

Although talking about death is often avoided, exploring this topic can be liberating and practically important. In playing the Creative Dying card game, we hope that you might experience greater insight and connection to yourself, to other beings, and to the larger rhythms of life.
This game is part of the larger Creative Dying Project (founded by Megan & Ryan Miller), whose mission to start conversations about death, encourage end-of-life planning and establish an inclusive, community-based dying center.

This event is open to all, no experience or preparation necessary. Water and tea will be provided, feel free to bring a cup and anything else that might help you be comfortable during our time together.

You can learn more and check out the game at CreativeDying.org/game. $5-10 donations are encouraged but not required.

Lanterns for Peace 2022

Join us for this family friendly event to commemorate the lives lost in the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings 77 years ago and make sure that such nuclear attacks never again take place. We remember the past, so that we can envision and work for a peaceful, just and nuclear-free future.

Open to public at 6:30pm for people to create lanterns
Program starts at 7:30pm
Lanterns start going out at dusk approximately 7:45-8:00pm

The event will be open to the public to attend at Tenney Park outside of the John Wall Family Pavilion and (weather & temperature depending) the entire event will be held outdoors. You are welcome to mail in your lantern if you cannot be in attendance. Please wear a mask if you are unvaccinated and maintain social distancing.
