“Congress of Starlings is a long-time favorite on the Chicago indie music scene. Aerin Tedesco and Andrea Bunch have been called ‘two of the most beautiful noises on the planet.’ The Starlings have brought their music to world famous venues like Milwaukee’s Summerfest, The National Women’s Music Festival, Halsted Market Days, Taste of Chicago, Pride Fest, Hard Rock Café, The House of Blues, and to beloved Chicago venues like The Old Town School of Folk Music, SPACE, Schuba’s and Martyr’s.”

Whether as an acoustic duo or a full band, Congress of Starlings joyfully delivers a unique, startling blend of unearthly harmonies, rich melodies, and unusual meters. Lyrically, their concerns reach from the depths of the heart, across the damaged American landscape, and through the mists of other worlds. Their voices are unmatched in their ability to move and enrapture audiences. Their songs are raw and powerful.

Congress of Starlings recent highlights ~

We produce Covers for Cover, now in its 17th year. Covers for Cover brings together trans and cis women artists to raise funds for women in need. Our annual shows are celebratory, uplifting concerts full of fans and artists cheering each other on! This December, Covers for Cover was proud to raise $25,000 for the Chicago Abortion Fund.

In June 2022, we sold out the 500+ seat Old Town School of Folk Music theater with our tribute to Joni Mitchell. Here’s Woodstock from that show.

Our music appears in Monty & Rose I and II, feature length documentaries about endangered piping plovers nesting in Chicago and the decision Chicagoans made to protect them. Hear The Gift.<

Join us in person for a heart lifting, energetic afternoon of al fresco music by the Madison Japanese Taiko Drumming Group – “BENI DAIKO!” This heart throbbing performance will be given in the open air under the Burr Oak Welcoming Area (BOWA) at the Farley Center.

Taiko has been a part of Japanese culture for centuries, and carries great cultural significance and is part of important celebrations. The name of the group Beni Daiko carries a specific meaning: “Beni” means “Deep color of Red” which represents Madison and “taiko” means “drum” in the Japanese language.

The term “Taiko” has also come to refer to the art of Japanese drumming, also known as “kumi-daiko.”
You are welcome to come early, stay late, walk through the Natural Path Sanctuary and the Farley Center farms to enjoy all that the Wisconsin spring countryside has to offer!

We will have Farley Center honey available for $10. Please bring cash.

Annual Urban Harvest Fest

9/17/22

The Annual Urban Harvest Festival is Urban Triage’s first festival celebrating all we’ve sowed over the summer and since the beginning of Urban Triage. Our Harvest celebration is grounded in sustainability, growth, and community.

What we do and who we are would not be–and is not possible without the support and commitment of our funders, volunteers, co-conspirators, community members, and staff. Together we’ve planted, sowed, and reaped tremendous growth and have impacted thousands of vulnerable community members in the Greater Dane County Area.

We’re on a mission to empower and inspire transformation and breakthroughs in our community through collaboration and cooperation. And we’ve done just that, and we’re just getting started.

Please celebrate with us all that we’ve accomplished together at our Farm–which has offered healing and sustainability for families in the Dane County Area. The work we do matters. And the families we serve and inspire are living proof.

Join us at The Farley Center on Saturday, September 17, 2022. It’s a fun-filled day of live music, acrobatics, a DJ, a majorette performance, food, spoken word, wine, and beer.

“I came to learn about food sustainability for myself and for my family. I enrolled in the program to learn healthier habits and to learn how to make money. I’ve gotten so much more from the program. Community. Healing. And bonding with the people that matter the most–my children.” – SHBA Cohort 1″
